About the artist

Mila Panić (1991, Bosnia and Herzegovina) following her move to Germany in 2014 completed her MFA in Public Art and New Art Strategies at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Through her work she redefines the existing narratives of diaspora and the perception of a better life where her personal experience and background are distinctly evident and help with understanding issues related to the phenomenology of place and the expanded notion of belonging including the concept of in-betweens. Working with found footage, photos and confessions by family members, she is creating a cycle which interprets the various inheritances of migration by providing the glimpses into the consequences of the process itself. This also reveal what is not documented, de-masks the different cultural narratives existing subtly in the very idea of migration.

Her works were exhibited internationally such as in Kunsthaus Dresden, Moscow Biennale for Young Art, Künstlerhaus in Vienna, National Museum of Contemporary Art in Skoplje etc. Panić is also the initiator of the platform Fully Funded Residencies for research and knowledge-sharing that gathers, archives and shares funded residencies, grants and mobility funds. Its mission is to work towards making the contemporary art fields more democratic, transparent and equal. Currently, she lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
